Posted by Connie Itchon on March 13, 2000 at 20:27:13:I started having sleep terror episodes almost a year ago. They started when I was promoted to a highly visible, stressful job. My episodes always involved something (spiders, dark shapes) rushing towards my face. I would then jump up and start running. The first time it happened I ran into the wall and cut my face! I eventually left that job because of the stress and the "running stopped". Off and throughout the year I would have smaller episodes - yelling out, talking. Last week, I dreamed that my husband (sounds silly) had an inhuman face as he was laying next to me. I, of course, bolted! I ran full force through the house and was headed for the front door. My husband freaks out whenever this happens and I can't blame him. The episodes can be comical when you talk about them the next day, but the realization of being out of control is definitely NOT funny. I'm not sure if a sleep clinic will help...i don't have sleep terrors every night. i'm also very hesitant to take medication for this, however I'm pretty tired of the situation. Is anyone else dealing with this?
