alpha intrusion disorder

A friend of mine went to a sleep clinic at Columbia Presb. Hospital & was diagnosed with "alpha intrusion disorder". She's been prescribed medication - 10 mg. Ambien, 3-4 drops of liquid doxypin (sp.)? & is still not sleeping. She's seen an acupuncturist, an MD for internal medicine & a sleep specialist & still has no relief. Is anyone aware of other answers or treatments to this disorder & can anyone point me in the right direction for getting more information. It would be greatly appreciated.
