oversleeping

Posted by LOU on July 06, 2000 at 09:31:07:

I am desperate for help. I have ALWAYS overslept. I've always considered myself a bit of a night owl and I know that I probably do not get enough sleep. My problem is that I can sleep through three alarms clocks. Although I seem to be in a kind of "semi-conscience" state, and I KNOW I'm going to be late, I can't seem to get myself out of bed. I have probably been like this for at least 18 years. It's really to the point that it's causing REAL problems. My children are late for school (because of me) and it causes them anxiety. All my friends joke about me being late for work EVERY DAY! I have been fortunate that I have not been fired because I am salaried and work over to make up for the 30 to 40 minutes I am late for work each day. BUT, I feel that my day is coming if I don't make some changes. My husband gets furious with me for being late (understandably so) but I can't seem to stop it even though I REALLY, REALLY want to. (My husband leaves for work anywhere from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and usually calls me every morning to wake me up. Sometimes I do, most of the time I don't.) Can somebody please help. I've gone so far as to have numerous blood tests run on myself because I know there has got to be something physically wrong with me. I want to be a morning person! Please help. Thanks.
