What kind of pillow for a sore ear?

I've got a slight build and I'm female. I don't have any sleep disorders that I'm aware of but I've noticed that I wake up many times with sore ears. I've been using two down pillows becasue one isn't enough support. I prefer to sleep on my side or stomach since sleeping on my back gives me nightmares. Any ideas? I've really been having a tough time with this lately (last 6 months). THanks.
