Is this a recent, brand new problem, or have you had it all your life? If this is seriously disrupting your ability to get a decent night's sleep, you should probably see a psychotherapist and/or sleep specialist. If there's any possibility that you may have been exposed to domestic violence and/or abusive behavior at nights when you were a child, you might want to consider that as a possible source for your current anxiety/fear/"paranoia". At various times in my own life, I have often had a great deal of anxiety about going to bed and occasionally I've gone through periods of extreme insomnia, though such anxiety and insomnia have been blessedly rare and much less severe in recent years. But the explanation in my own case is quite simple: when I was 10 years old I spent a few months living with an aunt and uncle, and shortly after going to bed, my uncle frequently came into my bedroom and molested me. Recurrent nightmares that plagued me for many, many years afterwards didn't help me sleep any better, either.
