Posted by Rich on July 11, 2000 at 16:22:29:I am not a doctor. But after reading almost 40 messages
posted here, I HIGHLY suggest you all look into
alternative causes for your sleep problems.
Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, etc.)
and anxiety disorders can have a HUGE affect on
sleep patterns AND vice-versa.I suffer from a low-grade depression
(disthymia) and I have found that I sleep WAY too
much. It almost cost me my job until I revealed,
in confidence, to human resources of my depression/
sleep disorder. Luckily, I was covered under the ADA.Anyway, consult a Psychiatrist. I know many of you
might say, "I don't need no Psychiatrist! I'm not
CRAZY!!" And you're NOT crazy. You may just be a bit
depressed or overly anxious. And THIS may be affecting
your sleep. I was put on medication for depression
and it worked WONDERS for my depression/sleep problems.
If you have reservations about seeing a Psychiatrist,
see a regular doctor who's AWARE and COMPETENT at
mood disorders AND anxiety AND sleep disorders.I hope you all get the help you need.
Take charge of your situation!!!!
