Hi KR! My husband has suffered from night terrors for as long as i've known him (7 years) and for a long time before that. I've done quite a bit of reading on the topic and no one seems to have a solution. I find that the terrors are really bad when he is stressed at work or worrying about something (at the moment its about a house we've just bought). I make sure he is relaxed at night, reading a book or magazine helps a bit as it takes his mind off what has happened during the day. Your husband shouldn't wake you up as that is bound to alarm you even more because i know that what my husband dreams is very much reality to him. I usually talk him through the dream, e.g. if he wakes up and someones in the room i usually tell him they've gone or put the light on and talk to him gently until he falls asleep again. This obviously doesn't help with stopping the terrors, but i have learnt to live with them. There are nights where he'll wake me between 5-10 times and other nights where he doesn't wake at all. There is a website (www.nightterrors.org/index.html) which targets adult sufferers of night terrors, its quite interesting.
