I've had this happen as well as my brother. He has it very often. From what we've read it happens because the body has entered a very deep sleep, so deep that the brain has a hard time detecting the spontaneous body functions and this causes the brain to send out a panic signal, which then in turn sets the rest in motion. I've been told the solution to this is to try to get regular sleeping hours (about 8), limit caffeine and alcohol, walk 20 to 30 min outside each day if possible, and be sure to be in bed by 11pm. Basically try not to let your body get exhausted. This has helped me. Your body is producing melatonin between 1&4 so you need to be sleeping during these hours. If you choose to use melatonin suppliments be aware that it INCREASES DREAMING if you are getting to much or if your body is already producing enough.
This has not happened to me in a while but last week after a busy weekend I had a simular episode This time it envolved flashing lights and electricity. The "evil Spirit" was entering my body. This bothers me because of the popping in my brain and the electricity envolved. This worries me. The info I read on Hags and incubus nightmares never mentioned that.
Has anyone experienced that?
