i honestly believe this problem is caused by too much sleep. physiologically our bodies only need 4-5 hours of sleep at night and 3-4 hours of sleep in the afternoon after lunch. we force ourselves to sleep 8+hours at night and stay awake all day and that is not our NATURAL sleep pattern. too much sleep at one time allows the body to fall into a deep, deep sleep that is not necessary and is closer to 'hibernation' than it is to rest.
if he is willing, try staying up until 11 or 12 pm, go to sleep until about 4am and then take a nap after lunch from 1-4 or so (appx 3 hours) in order NOT to fall into that DEEP hibernation which is difficult to wake from...
let me know if you would like more information or if you try this and it works.
thanks! deb
