Colin,

Thank you for your contribution of the experiences of you and your wife! I'm hoping that with all of us working together, we can make a very confusing decision -- selecting a mattress -- a little easier!

I know you are liking the feel of your air mattress and like the adjustability, so I offer an alternate suggestion only gently.

If you are considering an air mattress with "memory foam" for that kind of money, allow me to suggest an all "memory foam" mattress over an adjustable bed base. You can probably get pretty close to the same pricing (maybe even less: I know a queen combination that would be around $2000) with a much greater degree of comfort choices. You'll probably find that being able to raise the head and foot a bit will give you much the same results as making the air mattress firmer or softer. Not to mention all the other things they work well for.

"Memory foam" works great as an adjustable bed. (Of course, Air can have that wonderful "custom fit" feel!)

Just another idea to consider.
