Pillowtop Mattresses

Our mattress is King size (eastern) and is a top of the line $2,500 mattress. The problem was evident to me when it was new, however I didn't know it was the mattress at the time.
I always used the same pillow (including when traveling).
The problem is very repeatable, i.e. sleep on the pillowtop and feet hurt. Sleep on normal mattress, including some not so good ones, no problem. We have rotated the mattress 2 times a year and it is now 6 years old. We contacted the manufacturer who came to the house and checked it out for sagging and found it to be ok.
I have had the problem for 5 years and my wife for 2 years. I have recently developed type II diabetes, however my wife has not. My diabetes is under very tight control (blood sugar 80 to 110).
The people the Chiropractor referred to complained about their FEET, not their back.
I have also noticed the problem when I have slept on someone else's, similar, pillow top mattress.
THERE IS DEFINATELY a relationship.
I sleep on both sides as well as my back.
Personally I strongly suspect the pillowtop is somehow related to the apnea, which aggravates the neuropathy. The apnea may be responsible for the neuropathy as it takes 10 to 15 years to develop and there is no question that it is not related to our blood sugar levels as we have known what they are and they were (are) normal. Abnormal blood sugar levels can also cause neuropathy, but again 10 to 15 years of significant fasting (>115) levels are required to achive this result.
Again, if we go to a motel our feet don't hurt in the morning, at home they don't hurt if we sleep on the floor, but they do when we sleep on our pillowtop!
