My sleep doc told me that sleep paralysis is a natural and desirable state during REM sleep which prevents us from physically acting out our dreams.

I read an interesting approach on another forum ~ try coughing. The person who posted it suggests that coughing is a semi-involuntary reflex which is not inhibited by sleep paralysis, and once able to cough, it pulls him out of the paralyzed state.

I've only experienced sleep paralysis a few times, none lately, so don't know if it works, but I'm remembering it in case I need it!

Good luck ~ Ruby
