NIGHT TERRORS

Posted by SHELL on January 23, 2001 at 10:20:21:

my son has suffered night terrors for twelve years, and i have found it to be a very distressing time. my sons condition has changed in nature over the years, from ten minute bursts of fear and confusion, to a much more vocal account of what he thinks is happening to him.The most recent incident found him in my room, telling me he was about to stick a pen through my eye to pop the horrible bubble in it. I have been told most children grow out of it,although i now feel this will not be so in our csae.
The only tips i can give are get your child to breathe slowly, use a cold flannel to cool them, and try to get them to go to the toilet, these things have been known to wake my son from the most severe attacks. Good luck
