My sleeping disorder?

Posted by Kevin on January 25, 2001 at 06:02:33:

Hi,
I am trying to find out about my sleeping disorder and if it has a name!

I am 34 years old and have had this problem for about 17 years.

What happens is that I wake up (not suddenly) and I am paralysed, my eyes are open and can see perfectly the room that I am in. Sometimes I can hear music even though I have no radio and also I can see people in my room. When this happens it can be very frightning because it seems so real I cant tell the difference between real and haullucinations. It is rare that I see and hear these things both at the same time but the paralysis is quite common. I can be in this state for between 2 to 10 minutes and no matter how scared I become I can't "WAKE" up I just have to wait until my body wakes up by its self. Sometimes I can make myself return back to deep sleep but not often. When I do wake from a paralys I get a buzzing sensation in my head like somebody openning a fizzy drink in my head.

Can anybody give me more info on this disorder and does anybody else suffer with these problems

Thanks
Kevin
