Tinnitus volume spike.

Posted by Nick on June 24, 2001 at 21:19:59:

Hi Everyone,

I have this very disturbing experience whilst I'm about to fall asleep. I have a moderate amount of tinnitus which doesn't make it easy to fall asleep as it is, but as of late I am finding that at the point of falling asleep my tinnitus suddenly jumps up in volume remarkably and it wakes me with a jolt. This will happen a number of times in a row and then if I manage not to get too upset I will eventually fall asleep. It also happens if I wake during the night. Could this be because of heightened auditory sensitivity at the point of falling asleep? It's getting worse and worse and is incredibly disturbing.

Anyone have a similar experience or perhaps any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Nick.
