Squeaking and Breath Holding during sleep...

Posted by Marianne on June 29, 2001 at 07:51:05:

Does anyone know of a disorder, that involves holding your breath, and then letting it out slowly in a sqeak or moan, or series of squeaks or moans? I have been suffering from my husband doing this for over three years. He has no recollection of doing it, and claims it doesn't bother him.
He holds his breath so long sometimes that I jab him, to wake him up and get him to start breathing again. It is not snoring, I have only heard him snore once the whole time we've been married. It is squeaking. Like someone has let the air out of a balloon slowly. Since there is no snoring involved, could it still be apnea? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
