Humming in sleep

Posted by hummingbird on September 20, 2001 at 07:23:38:

Help, I hum when I sleep. Needless to say this is not making it easy for my boyfriend, who is a light sleeper, to get to sleep or stay asleep. He wakes me repeatedly because he can't sleep and he hopes changing position will make me stop. It never works. This is putting a strain on our sleeping arrangements. Does anyone know what causes this or how to help prevent it. I have very little jawbone left due to a genetic disorder and no upper or lower teeth, just a plate which i keep in 24/7 by implants on the lower jaw. I know when I wake that the upper jaw is collapsed to the lower. Can breathing changes cause this humming. I am never consciously aware of doing it.
