papillary conjunctivitus, floppy eyelids

Posted by irritated eyes on October 21, 2001 at 20:28:18:

I have has this problem for a few years now. It all started when my eyes would become irritated from wearing contact lenses. They would become red and dry and itchy. My doctor said I had conjunctivitus and sent me to an opthomologist. My allergies are quite bad and my opthomologist perscribed me a combination of drugs including steriods, anti-allergy drops and pressure drops. The combination would clear up my symptoms but they would return as soon as I was off the steriods. I have stopped wearing contacts but the condition will not go away.
Recently I learned I open and close my eyes during the night and sometimes have my eyes only slightly closed. This causes irritation that may be the cause of my problem. I have tried various things to stop sleeping like this but they never work. I have heard about "tape" but do not know how to use it or get it.
What can I do to stop sleeping like this and how can I reduce eye irriatation?
Also, has this happened to anyone? My doctor said she has never seen anything like this.
Thanks.
