Definitely sounds like PLMS to me. In fact, a lot of Narcoleptics eventually end up with RLS or PLMS.

Are you taking any medications? Many medications (OTC sleep aids, antihistamines, most anti-depressants, stimulants, etc.) will make RLS/PLMS worse, as will caffeine and too much sugar. So, I would look at that first.

Second, you might want to try mild exercise (walking on a treadmill or yoga, for example) or stretching exercises just before you go to bed. This is contrary to most sleep advice, but it works well for RLS/PLMS, and if you don't get yourself charged up with aerobic exercise, it probably won't cause any problems. I've always found that a good hot shower helps as well.

Finally, I've never kept my husband awake with mine, but he could sleep through a tornado! However, when his snoring gets really bad, I just go sleep on the couch or in the guest bedroom. So, that's just about all I can suggest on sleep arrangements.
