hypersomnia

Posted by tjyorke on January 19, 2002 at 09:55:48:

My son was diagnosed with hypersomnia about two years ago. He was put on provigil and a sleep aid for the night. Since this began 4 years ago, the disorder seems to follow the same routine...He does fair until about Thanksgiving, then he starts sleeping more, clear through the holidays, etc. when spring comes, he is a little easier to get up.
His father, who lives in another state (and others) feel that his problem is behavioral. It has caused a great source of stress in our life-I have done many things to help him, but alot of it was for not. He also takes medicine for depression, which he was diagnosed with some years before the sleep started. How are others with children who have this disorder dealing with it??
