How long does it take to get used to a new mattres

Posted by EM on July 10, 2002 at 13:22:22:

We purchased a new mattress about 3 weeks ago with a 60 day comfort guarantee ..... Thus far we have not gotten used to the mattress and in fact I have back pains from it. The salesperson at the store said that sometimes it takes a little bit of time for the body to get used to the new mattress, especially if its a drastically different mattress then the one we had before. Is that true? and if so how long should we give the mattress a shot before we take it back? He felt we should give it one more week since typically it takes roughly 3 weeks (according to him) or so to get used to the new mattress. By the by its a Stearns and Foster mattress, with pillowtop (was not a cheap mattress by any means). Help!!
