has anyone experienced cycles of oversleeping/

Posted by rabbann on July 19, 2002 at 15:08:27:

I was counciled today for my excessive late arrivals to work. In looking at the dates and reasons listed, my supervisor and I noticed a repeating pattern of oversleeping around the same date, month after month. This struck me as being more than coincidental.

Does anyone have a clue if this is related to a sleep disorder?

About me, I am definitely chronically sleep deprived. I am 39 and have 2 kids under 4 yrs old, work full time etc. Tend to sleep between 5-8 hrs, often hit snooze, and fall asleep on couch watching tv etc.

2 members of my family do have diagnosed sleep disorders, one has apnea, the other one excessive daytime sleepiness, and some kind of deal where he cannot transition from sleep to wakefulness with out outside intervention and drugs.
