huh, it's funny you mention that, I called it bouncing and did it until I was about 24. The only reason I stopped was it was killing my back. I would lie on my stomach and bang my head on my pillow, for me it was another form of day dreaming and there are times when I still actually miss it. Try reading to get sleepy it's not as good but it does help. I asked my mother about it and was told that I started doing it as a child after a traumatic event in our home, the doctors told here I would grow out of it but if it was not for my back I would still be doing it today.
PS my girlfriend (now wife) thought it was pretty wierd as well.
Not saying there is but maybe look into finally coming to terms with the skeltons in your closet, you'll never feel better.
