You should also look UARS up, many people have been misdiagnosed with CNS hypersomnia. I believe I have been on of them. I was diagnosed with idipathic hypersomnia with narcolepsy tendencies in 1989. I recently had another sleep study done and even though the results showed alpha intrusions with arousals (from what I can tell approx 34 per hour.) They did not change the diagonsis, becasue from what I can tell the sleep specialist that read my study is apparently not up to date on UARS. I have scheduled an appt with another sleep specialist and I am taking all of the information that I have gathered with me just in case he is not familiar with this. Maybe I am just wishful thinking..... but given all of the information I have it is worth a try. I have been on different CNS stimulants before I was diagnosed and all though they did help me to get through the days.... it is not enough. I want to wake up!!!!! Important to also note.... is that I do not snore, well when I do my husband sayes is is very light; wanting you to know that you do not have to snore to have this. I have experienced all of the symptoms of narcolepsy and of hypersomnia so believe me I do know how you are feeling.
