Sounds similar to Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).

I experienced RLS when I withdrawing from post-surgical pain meds, including morphine and oxicodone (after 2 months of using them). After 6 weeks, mine went away, but many people get RLS and it hangs around for years or even the rest of their lives.

RLS is horrible. It can cause feelings of twitchiness, crawling, "the desire to move" ... and it can be devastating to normal sleep.

There are medicines that can help. If you look on this site, or the Restless Leg Sydrome Foundation webpage (www.rls.org), you can show your mom a list of symptoms. If she thinks that's the problem, she should find a doctor who is experienced with treating it.

Good luck to your mother!
