fighting to wake up

Posted by Dayna on September 13, 2002 at 21:24:28:

Sometimes before or after I go to sleep, I have this feeling that if I fall asleep I won't be able to wake-up. It's not that I am not sleepy. When it happens mostly in the morning when I stay in bed late. I wake up or I am about to wake-up but I have this urge to sleep and then have a feeling that if I fall I sleep I won't be able to wake up, so I end up fighting myself to stay awake, sometimes I feel like my body will become paralyze if I fall asleep. When I can't fight the struggle to stay awake, I feel like I am laying in bed aware of everything wanting to wake up, but can't wake up. Sometime I think I succeed waking up only to find that I didn't really wake up, I was still sleeping...
Anybody ever feel this way, or know of anybody who has experience this. Is there a solution. I don't think it's lack of sleep cause I get enough sleep, As I say, it usually happen in the morning if I try to stay in bed late or something.
