Pop-up Camper Mattress

Posted by Avid Campers on September 14, 2002 at 10:21:05:

We have a pop-up trailer camper that includes two oversized queen beds on slideouts (Coleman camper). The beds are really just a plywood base with a 3" foam mattress. My husband and I are in our mid 50's and enjoy a little comfort on our camping trips. I'd like to add some kind of topper to the foam mattress and was considering either a memory foam or featherbed pad. The problem is that the present foam mattress is not dense enough to NOT feel the plywood base underneath. Other than that one problem, our sleep is great ... wonderful to listen to the birds first thing in the morning!

We only use the camper for long weekends and an occasional week-long trip. Also, the temperatures range from VERY hot (although we have an AC unit), since we live in Texas, to about freezing, depending on the season and where we're traveling. Thought the memory foam might present a problem in cold weather.

I'd appreciate any ideas ... thanks.
