I sleep on arms, they go dead at night!

I usually sleep on one or both of my arms and I wake up and have absolutely no circulation in them. I have absolutely no feeling in it when I wake up and it usually takes about 20 minutes of pain to get the blood back to all my arm. I am scared that this could somehow cause permanent damage to them since I cannot tell if it's been asleep for 10 minutes or 8 hours. I know my arm is blue when it does this, so it scares me. Any ideas or thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks
