It's not ADD

Posted by Pinchme on September 20, 2002 at 11:55:34:

I have been treated for ADD for ten years. The medication keeps we awake, but I don't think I have ADD.
I awoke at 5:30 this morning with a clear head(no groggy feeling). Before I got out of bed I felt the groggy feeling set in.
I have never fallen asleep at an inappropriate time during the day; I am just groggy until late afternoon. This has persisted for 30 years.
Sometimes I am completely aware of my surroundings, but my body is in a state of sleep--my breathing & heart rate seem to remain constant, I feel like I'm sleeping but I am totally in tune with what is going on around me. I was in that state this morning when I felt like my brain was given a sedative. I could not sleep it off because I had to get up. It is the same groggy feeling I'm accustomed to, but this was the first time I was aware of it beginning. I was awake when my brain went to sleep.
What is going on?
