I agree with Henry; this is not a problem that can be solved with friendly advice and home remedies. You said that this problem is at its worst "after a few drinks"--if this is a regular occurance, I wouldn't rule out an alcohol-related problem. Clearly, your wife is suffering from a deeper health issue, one that may be treatable with medication or therapy; that's something only your doctor can tell you for sure. Your wife needs more than just friendly advice--however well-intentioned that advice may be--in order to recover.
When you do contact your doctor, make sure you inform him or her of all of your wife's symptoms, and try to have the answers to these questions ready:
1). how long has this been a problem?
2). did something happen/change around that time that may have caused this problem?
3). have you been able to identify anything that makes the problem worse (like having alcohol before bed), or anything that makes the problem better?I do not reccomend any online discussion group as a substitute for a doctor's visit. If you're looking for advice in the meantime, however, I recommend that you try a discussion group run by a medical expert, rather than an informal group such as this. MSN.com has an excellent "health" section, and discussion groups run by several specialists--including a specialist on sleeping disorders. I'd say that probably ought to be your next stop...but--and I cannot stres this enough--SEE YOUR DOCTOR as well.
Good luck!
