Posted by JustinXLR8 on October 01, 2002 at 10:11:16:I would be most grateful if someone could please advise me about something I have been experiencing recently. I am really scared by this, so would appreciate some help as soon as possible.
When I try to go to sleep at night, I have recently began to experience garbled thoughts racing through my mind and constant dreams. When I say garbled thoughts, I mean thoughts that often don't make much sense (almost imagine talking to myself or just lots of random thoughts, lots of dreams, restlessness, etc). My mind is not at rest when I sleep and is very active. I feel as though I have not been in a deep sleep. I know I generally tend to have an active mind, but haven't experienced anything as intense as this before. I have been under a lot of stress, depression, anxiety, panic attcks, trauma recently and had a nervous breakdown due to problems in life. Before my nervous breakdown, my sleep pattern was fine and I had no problems.
I also sometimes can't keep still during the night. I often wake up, then try to sleep again, but can't because I feel as though I can't keep still and also find the racing thoughts come back. I feel as though I have a lot of adrenalin in my mind and body (my head feels quite heavey) and sometimes I wake up and feel as though I can't keep still even when awake. I have had some nights of fairly good sleep, but quite often I find it difficult. Sometimes after experiencing these sleepless nights, I feel agitation during the day and feel as though I can't stop moving and can't keep still. My mind still feels active too sometimes during the day (almost as though arenalin is still racing through my mind. If I close my eyes during the day, I can sometimes almost imagine images, visuals and patterns). I am currently taking diazipam sleeping tablets and have tried other sleeping tablets too, but I still experience the above problems. Without the tablets, sleeping is impossible. I have an appointment to see a councillor and psycotherapist soon, so I hope they can help me.
Does anyone have any idea as to what I could be experiencing or has anyone experienced this themselves? Any advise as to how to eliminate these problems? Will they just fade with time? I hope it will all go soon, because it does bother me. Thank you for reading my post. I would appreciate any feedback. This has been happening on and off for at least 4 weeks now. Thanks.
