Awake, But unable to move??

Maybe someone can tell me why his happens... Occassionally when I am asleep, I will wake up, I can see and hear everything around me, but I am unable to move as if I was paralyze. I have found if I relax, I will usually come out of the state and be able to wakeup fully. This seems to happen daily to me. WHAT CAN I DO TO PERVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING???
