Sleep paralysis and visions

Posted by andypants on December 02, 2002 at 22:25:32:

Hi there. I been having this problem since I was a teenager, where just as I was falling asleep, a feeling of pressure would come upon me and i knew that if I let myself fall asleep, I wouldn't be able to move. And I wasn't. I would fight with my body during these times. My heart would race, I'd be covered in sweat, and pressing against me was this horrible feeling of dread that i had to get out of it as quickly as possible. These episodes happen every so often, and there is no telling exactly when they will occur. Sometimes I can go for three months without a single one. Life has been good to me, and there is no cause of great stress or pain past or present. For the first time last summer, these paralizing instances were accompanied by visions of shadows...like men. They would watch me during these times and sometimes they would hurt me while I was frozen. This only happened four times. I see everything clearly during these times, no haze or anything to blur the scene. Two weeks ago I fell asleep with the same feeling of force, and as I was paralized, i felt this weight on top of my side which was accompanied by a bright light. Then it felt like the weight was screaming into my ear. It was so loud i didn't know what to do. Nothing has happened since then. Is this natural? Do other people see shadow visions with ill intent while they're paralized? Andypants
