??? on visco foam mattress toppers

Posted by Boba on December 07, 2002 at 00:36:26:

I'm in the process of purchasing a queen-sized visco foam mattress topper. What should I be looking for? Does the thickness matter? Select Comfort and Tempur-pedic have models that are only 1" thick but cost $299 and $499 respectively. However I found a Heat sensitive visco-elastic foam 3" thick mattress topper called the BetterRest from a place called Indoors & Outdoors that sells for $269. I think I read somewhere that I should check about the so-called "heat sensitive" property of the mattress topper.

Additionally, will a mattress topper even help? I have a futon, and the mattress is starting to cause backaches. I wish I had the $$$ to just buy a new mattress, but I don't, so I'm looking to mattress toppers (specifically visco foam ones). I appreciate any help and tips! Thanks!
