Excessive Dreaming

Posted by Susan on January 03, 2003 at 16:04:52:

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do about excessive dreaming. I have found a few posts about this problem, but no one has really given any good solutions. I prefer to stay away from any drugs. Does anyone know what causes this problem? In many of the letters I have seen people are having bad dreams or nightmares, but mine arent always bad. However, they are so realistic, I often wake up angry at my boyfriend because in some dream, he was horrible to me, or I wake up thinking I have some new outfit or new jewely and wonder where it is. Sometimes, I have a hard time distinguishing what is was a dream and what really happened, because the dreams are just so real. This problem goes back to my early childhood. I feel like I never get a full nights sleep because all night long, I am being chased by crazy men, or riding on a cruise ship or chasing gorilla's on my bicycle (this is just from the past two nights). I also dream about the same places over and over, tho not like a recurring dream. But these are places (or people) I have only seen in my dreams, and while I am dreaming, I recognize them as familiar. All I want is tbe able to sleep peacefully--to allow my mind to rest at night. I am always so exhausted, and I am sure I am not living up to my full potential, as I never ever get enough sleep. I fall asleep fine, but I never stay asleep, and am dreaming within minutes, and always dreaming when I wake in the morning, and usually wake up several times a night from some dream. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
