cold symptoms keeping me awake

i wonder if anyone else has this problem. i'm 28 years old, no history of sinus problems, i'm quite healthy. the only one with problems is my dad. he's allergic to pollen, but he takes a store-bought antihistamine and it seems to take care of it. as for me, the last couple of months, every time i try to sleep, my nose gets completely stuffed up. the symptoms are identical to having a cold. but during the day, i don't have any cold symptoms at all. i'm usually a deep sleeper, but this problem has been waking me up at night. i take cold medicines to help me sleep, but i think it's getting a bit much. i'd like to just get back to normal. any ideas?
