**Body shuts down while awake???

Posted by JpScorpio on January 17, 2003 at 09:05:46:

Oh my gosh!
I have looked for months to find someone in the same situation!!!
What is happening w/ me is that during the day, I will be working and all of a sudden, BAM! I am just like a computer.. shutting down... I feel almost like I am dying.
My body shuts down, w/ in seconds and I crash. 90% of the time, I don't fall asleep, but wish I could. My heart rate slows, my breathing is slow, and I can hardly move my hands over the keyboard. It's awful! This happens EVERY DAY.. I have tried to get more rest, less rest, taking a nap, drinking water, walking around, turning the heat down... everything.
Just like another forum member said... I can snap out of it, but I feel soooo crashed.
I don't drink, just quit smoking, and don't use any drugs. Just take Lithium, Paxil, and an occasional Tylenol...
I don't know what this is, but I am quite frightened... Especially when I am driving and it happens. I can't see how this happens so often.
If you get ANY information on this, let me know. I don't believe this falls under sleep paralysis, or narcolepcy.. I think it is rare and not mentioned... maybe not researched enough.
I have included my personal e-mail address for future correspondences. I really need to find out what is happening to me. I am very scared.

shutting down...PLEASE HELP!
Julia
