parasomnia...i think

ok, i'm waking up in the middle of the night and not knowing where i am. i'll sit up in my bed for anywhere from a few seconds to ten minutes thinking there are people in my room and trying to figure out where i am but being too scared to actually get up and find out. Does anybody know whatmught be wrong? it was weird at first but now that it is happening almost every night it's starting to freak me out.
