I feel really bad for your mother and family members. At her age no one should have to deal with this. The problem is that not many doctors have heard of RLS or even understand the symptoms. I'm going to give you the name of drug that has helped my mother, age 72, and myself for the past few years. Sinemet and Sinemet CR. Sinement CR is a time released tablet. I take one of each before going to bed and I can sleep for about 6 hrs without the RLS kicking in. If I should have an attack in the day hours I take a regular tablet and it is gone within 30 mins. I have a sleep center here is Pittsburgh that deals with this problem daily. Your mother needs a doctor that understands!!!! Also, subscribe to the NightWalkers. It is a newsletter of the Restless Leg Syndrome Foundation. The address is: RLS Foundation 4410 19th Street NW Suite 201 Rochester MN 55901-6624. My doctors name is: Dr. Donald Buysee. He is located in the University of Pgh Western Psych. I have his phone number at work and can give it to you on Tuesday if your still interested. He can refer you to someone local in your area or ask you to bring her into Pgh. I've heard of people traveling to different states for any kind of relief. It is worth the piece of mind your mother will finally have. No one understand the pain because it is not pain that you know of. At time you just want to jump out of your skin. People that are not aware of this dreadful illness think that we are a little crazy. I pray that they never get this disorder. I was going on 3 hrs a sleep each night until I found Dr. Buysee. This illness is found among other family members too. Maybe not now but later in life it may raise its ugly head. I will keep your mother in prayer because she needs to rest from this all. There is help, please tell her this. I haven't found this AOL hotline to be much help. I'm normally telling others how to find help. I wanted to hear what they are going through so that we could share as a help/support group but have had no luck. Stay in touch. If you need to reach me during the day you can email me at my place of employment: Ainsworth,c@mellon.com
