Hydrocodone, Vicoden, Lorcet, et al...

Posted by Joe on June 25, 1999 at 11:31:28:

Long story behind this but I have been on Lorcets (Hydrocodone) since December 1998 and I THOUGHT that my restless legs went away when they fused my vertebrae.

However on June 5th my pain meds ran out and they wouldn't let me have any more till June 11th. By the second night without my "fix" my restless legs were back with a vengeance and I can say 100% that hydrocodone does work for RLS...at least "my" RLS.

The last few days I have taken it on myself to adjust the dosage DOWN in order to find an optimum dosage.

I was taking Lorcet 10/650 twice daily and RLS was nonexistent for me since December. When I ran out of meds it came back right away. I was so relieved when my scrip got refilled I slept a whole day...on purpose. (grin)

The last few days I have been splitting my pills and taking three HALF's each day. The pain level (non-RLS) went up but is bearable for my experiment. However, even though I haven't experienced the crawlies...I can feel them right around the corner so to speak.

For me...15-20 mg daily seems about right. However, since we are talking about a narcotic I am still pretty sleepy much of the time.

Now I am worried about what kind of physical adjustments I'll have to go through if/when they stop my Lorcet's and the other doctor begins something else....???

Oh well!...ain't life fun? (grin)

Joe
