Posted by Al on August 10, 1999 at 06:35:25:I have found that my worst RLS symptoms are completely connected to WHEN I eat a meal. Because of the delay involved (around 10 to 11 hours for me) this connection was not very obvious to begin with (it took me 53 years to see it). But by experimenting I found I could get rid of nightime RLS by eating lunch early (11am) and dinner late (8pm) and eating NO solids or caffeine between lunch and dinner. Results were immediate. Small goofs, like eating a snack, brought on RLS 10 hours later. Its not easy for me to avoid snacking for such a long time, but my results are well worth the effort. If your RLS does not have a gastrointestinal cause or you are not "regualar", this probably will not work for you. If you have gastro problems, you should also check out IBS and lactose intolerance. When I eliminated lactose problems (with lactase enzyme) most of my daytime RLS problems subsided also.
