Yes it is possible to have RLS in arms. I have the symtoms in my arms, as well as my legs and spine. I have had these problems for over five decades. Some people move their legs to stop the sensations and I did some of that but what I do most of all is move my hands. I can sit in a car for hours as long as I am knitting or crocheting. I do it for hours every single day. As soon as I stop the strange sensations starts. The only way I can think to discribe the way it feels is that it's like a numbness running down arms, legs, and spine right to up my neck to by brain stem. In that numbness it feels like worms are crawling all over. There is a burning sensation and it feels as though my head was going to explode. I also have migraine heads and when I had the RLS and migraine at the same time I was severely disabled for days. Some times I didn't even know my own name. That is not an exageration. I mentioned having these sensations that were all over my body to my neurogist and my doctor at the sleep consultants and they both said it was possible to have in more than one part of the body. They said that RLS was a movement and sensory disorder that you could have any where. I was also told that it was very likely that the cause was genetic since it has been there all my life going back to babyhood.
I know how miserable you are when RLS is all over and I wish I knew what to tell you to make it better. I have not had a normal life because of it and cannot work anymore. I too had periods of time when the symtoms disappeared and those were wonderful times. When there were no symtoms, I felt that they would never return; but they always did. Sometimes I would have the symtoms everyday for months. RLS was diagnosed only a year ago and the treatment has made me somewhat better and I intend to keep up with my c-pac, medicine, etc. You are not alone. Please feel free to email. I'll do whatever I can to help you.
