Posted by Cyd on July 31, 2001 at 17:39:44:I just found this site yesterday and had posted the information below in response to someone's question. I read through a lot of the postings, but I didn't see anything posted by anyone else about Trazodone. I was just wondering has anyone else tried it?
I've suffered from restless legs (and the subsequent sleepless nights) for many years. I recently had a sleep study (also have apnea, but that's controlled with CPAP) done and the neurologist suggested I try a very low (50mg) dose of Trazodone at bedtime to try to get me into a deep sleep.
Well, this stuff doesn't make me sleepy. The first night was awful. I was awake all night.
The second night I took it earlier and was still wide awake 3 hours later - lying in bed reading a book - when I suddenly realized that my LEGS WEREN'T MOVING!! I'm still waking up every morning and lying very still - just to check! I do still experience some aching, but nothing like what I was experiencing with the leg movements. I called the Dr. the next day and she indicated that she had only anticipated that the medicine would make me drowsy, not that it would stop the leg movements.I also take Malic Acid (magnesium malate). It makes the creepy, tingling feelings in my legs go away (been using this successfully for about 4 years).
Hopefully, if it works for me, it could also help others.
