Yes, I definitely think itching is related to RLS! I have had episodes where I have had to scratch so hard to make it stop that I have dug bloody furrows in my skin with my fingernails, and still bear the scars, years later. I think I may have managed to psych myself out a little on this one, though. The itching still happens, but I have decided that it will stop after I scratch the spot three times. Don't ask me why I decided on three; it was random. Anyway, it works for me. That spot gets three scratches, and then it's out (three strikes, you're out?!?). The only problem is that I then get another immediate itch, and then another, another, another... Add twitching legs, arms, ribs, eyes, (and today, even my EAR! I felt like Dr. Spock with my ear moving on it's own...)
Maybe someday I will figure out how to tell my body that it can only itch in three spots, three times per spot, and have that under control!
