This is something I have thought about for years, and wondered (even before I knew I had RLS) if it had anything to do with my symptoms, or if anyone knows if there has been a study done.
I had colic as an infant, very badly. My mom says I screamed almost 24 hours a day until I was just about six months old. She described me pulling my legs up into my chest almost convulsively, and also my arms and legs jerking around when I was crying, or when I was trying to sleep. Apparently, the jerking was more severe than a normally crying infant would project.
I remember sleep problems as a small child...I walked in my sleep, I kicked horribly (which I now know was probably something else entirely).
Does anyone know if colic might be a precursor to RLS, or other sleep disorders?? Has any kind of a study been done?
My godson was colicky like I was, and I observed exactly what my mom was talking about. He now has epilepsy and some sleep disorder, all of which seems neurologically related...
Thanks for any info!
Les
