Aren't I too young for this???

Posted by Sleepless in Vegas on August 01, 2002 at 20:35:34:

As a teenager, I would occasionally have 'jerks' in my legs, and over the past 12 years, I would only get it occasionally - mainly if I was 'overly tired.' But for the past 3 months, I have had symptoms every night, and over the past month, I've had it in the daytime & in my arms & up my spine. I turned 28 this year. All the info I find on RLS is in regards to the elderly or over 50 group. I finally went to my Dr today - he didn't want to call it RLS but I know that is what it is. He prescribed Zanaflex (4mg at night, 2mg in the day). I guess I don't really have a question, but I am miserable & I haven't met anyone else in 'real life' with this problem. Friends & family who accompany me to movies or shows get freaked out by my legs. I also have been having worsening pain & stiffness in my left hip. I've tried all the home remedies, adjusted my diet, cut out caffeine, done everything suggested on websites. I am at my wit's end, and it is quite depressing to think that I have the rest of my life with this. Thanks for listening.
