Is this RLS? + Question about Iron Levels

Posted by Restless in Texas on August 05, 2002 at 01:26:30:

Hi!

I've had this thing for years where my legs get slightly itchy while trying to go to sleep. Seems to help to have clean sheets, so that's led to a little fetish about changing my sheets every 2-3 days, which is a pain--I'd love to have a better explaination than me being obsessive-compulsive about sheets!

During the last part of my current (first) pregnancy, though, it has gotten pretty bad. I keep changing positions & stretching & my legs are just so restless & uncomfortable I just want to cut them off! (And then the baby kicks me in the ribs just as I'm about to drift off to sleep--ack!) I'm lucky I'm not working any more & can nap during the day for an hour or so, but still am pretty sleep-deprived & uncomfortable because of this. Does this sound like RLS to you guys?

Also, my practitioner said my iron levels were fine. Isn't there something about ferrate levels or something to check, too? Can I just take an iron supplement & see if it helps? A warm bath will help for a couple of hours, but that's it.

Thanks!
