Personally, I haven't read anything that makes this an age related problem, but I guess that info is out there if you've read it.

I am 40 now, and now that I'm diagnosed and being treated with good success, I can look back for more than 10 years and see that I had this problem but it went undiagnosed.

I'm using Mirapex and have experienced success from the first night. I am not on the right dosage yet but it's really making a difference. Mine is a long and sorted tale and I never believed at this stage, after years of trying to figure out my problem, that I'd actually find something to help me.

As for RLS and PLMS, my symptoms range in severity and I've been able to pin point that when there is something going on in my body, that I'm not even aware of yet, my RLS will become much worse. It's like my body or health radar, I guess. I also experience worse symptoms when I'm recovering from surgery, usually after I stop taking the pain meds.

I'm not that familiar with all of the medications that exist for RLS or PLMS but it kind of sounds like you need to see a specialist. If not a sleep doctor, then a Neurologist and let that person diagnose you, as it sounds like your current doctor is reluctant.

Good luck.
