Some things that have worked for me. Get regular exercise, earlier in the day, otherwise sporadic exercie sets me off every time. Go to sleep later than midnight - research shows it's at it's worst at "normal" bedtime. An odd one for me - use lotion before bed. If I am itchy, it just makes the RLS worse. Sleep without clothing on the legs. A variation for me is to also keep a pillow between my legs to keep them from touching each other.
