PLMD is Periodic Leg Movement Disorder. It is a twitching or jerking of the legs which awakens you briefly, like sleep apnea. It therefore interrupts sleep and prevents deep REM sleep.

I too have sleep apnea and PLMD. I am on CPAP therapy for the former and Mirapex for the latter. I started out at 0.25mg and was increased to 0.50mg after my second sleep test. The Mirapex is very effective.
